Mother Nurture -
My name is Tara Bungard and I trained as a doula with Nurturing Birth in April 2008.  I am a Certified Doula with Nurturing Birth and a Doula UK Recognised Doula.  I have two daughters, Amy and Megan.  Amy was a waterbirth and Megan was a vaginal breech birth.  As a doula I have supported vaginal and Caesarean births, VBAC and vaginal breech births, home births and water births and have postnatal experience of twins and premature as well as full-term babies.  I have attended workshops on waterbirth, supporting fathers during pregnancy and birth and using homeopathy in pregnancy and labour and am also a Placenta Encapsulation Specialist, having trained through Koala Therapies in April 2010.  In addition, I have recently trained in the art of the rebozo - a mexican scarf that is used as a labour tool to facilitate optimal foetal positioning and assist a woman in certain positions useful for labour and birth.

I am a qualified Breastfeeding Counsellor, having trained with Childbirth International.  This course involved study of the anatomy and physiology of breastfeeding, problems with breastfeeding and how to overcome them and specific issues relating to neonatal illness and breastfeeding as well as prescribed case study scenarios and completing 30 hours mentored one-to-one breastfeeding support.   I have also recently attended two breastfeeding study days facilitated by renowned Canadian paediatrician, Jack Newman.

I am currently studying for a Diploma in Childbirth Education with Childbirth International which I hope to have completed by Christmas so that I am able to start offering antenatal classes from January 2011.

I have a birthing ball and a TENS machine available for use by my clients and various books on pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding which you are welcome to borrow.   Postnatally, I have a small selection of baby carriers/slings for you to try if you are interested.  During labour I offer basic massage and use aromatherapy and homeopathy for those clients who want them.

I am a member of Doula UK, the National Childbirth Trust, the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers, La Leche League, the Association for Improvement in the Maternity Services, hold a St John’s Ambulance First Aid Certificate and am fully insured.

I live in Slough and usually work within a one hour radius of there.  This incorporates many hospitals, including Wexham Park Hospital, Heatherwood Hospital, St Peter's Chertsey, Frimley Park Hospital, Royal Berks, Watford General, Hillingdon Hospital, Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Royal Surrey County Hospital and Epsom General as well as several London hospitals.
